A typical day includes performing pre-site preparations, equipment startups, repairs, preventive maintenance, and field modifications. Representatives work closely with customers, electricians, sales partners, technical support and district service teams to solve issues and generate detailed service and expense reports, as well as preventive maintenance and startup documentation.
On certain days the role expands to traveling across the region or country to provide local support, assisting senior technicians on larger system startups, and collaborating with project managers on high-complexity projects. Representatives may also act on behalf of the District Service Manager to address operational challenges.
Field Service Representatives at Schneider Electric play a pivotal role by collaborating with customers, team members, and third-party partners to deliver assembly, startup, diagnostic, repair and preventive maintenance services for both company-owned and third-party equipment. At least two years of field service repair experience with UPS systems, power distribution, ATS, or related equipment, and a solid understanding of AC and DC power principles are required.
Strong safety practices are essential, including lockout/tagout procedures, NFPA-70E or OSHA knowledge, and timely completion of safety training. The role demands physical stamina for tasks such as bending, stooping, lifting up to 40 lb, and working in extreme weather conditions or confined spaces.
