The Assistant Manager, Construction plays a key role in overseeing renovation, turn and construction resources across Tricon’s portfolio. The position is responsible for workflow management, quality control, team attendance, timesheets, inventory, vehicle maintenance and the supervision of in‑house technicians, superintendents and external vendors. It also mentors team members, validates scopes, and ensures adherence to service standards and corporate processes.
Core duties include training and quality‑control oversight for all renovation activities, managing daily operations of superintendents and project coordinators (attendance, timesheets, inventory, vehicle care), and monitoring the quality, spend and completion of work performed by internal technicians and vendors. The role anticipates schedule conflicts, conducts weekly project‑update meetings, mentors staff through one‑on‑one training, and closes out minor and major turn projects to meet Tricon quality standards. Scope validation for larger renovation projects and implementation of corporate processes and policy enforcement are also required. Additionally, the Assistant Manager tracks and meets construction KPI goals, participates in bi‑weekly KPI meetings, and manages project plans, budgets and timelines for rehabilitation and turn work.
Candidates must have prior construction leadership experience, the ability to plan, schedule, anticipate issues and solve problems, and strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with MS Office—particularly Excel for basic accounting—and familiarity with Yardi are preferred, along with a high school diploma (BA preferred). Required competencies include attention to detail, basic financial acumen, strong organizational abilities, and the capacity to handle multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously. A proven track record of leveraging technology and project‑management software is essential.
The position involves regular physical activity such as standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 50 lb, and using hands for various tasks, as well as the ability to operate a company‑provided vehicle safely.
