The Lead AI Engineer will own the end‑to‑end architecture for AI products, including model selection, multi‑agent workflow orchestration, and data retrieval designs such as RAG and knowledge graphs. They will evaluate emerging technologies, create reusable AI services and SDKs, and establish standards for prompt design, evaluation, observability, and incident response.
In addition to technical leadership, the role involves mentoring AI, ML, and data science engineers, conducting design and code reviews, and fostering an AI engineering culture focused on innovation, quality, and responsible AI. The engineer will collaborate with product, design, and business stakeholders to define high‑value use cases, shape roadmaps, and lead cross‑functional projects from concept to production.
- Design data and retrieval systems such as RAG, hybrid search, knowledge graphs, and semantic caching.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies like next‑gen LLMs, multimodal models, real‑time streaming, and advanced agent frameworks.
- Build shared AI services and SDKs, including reusable RAG pipelines, UI components, and modular back‑end processes.
- Establish standards for prompt design, model evaluation, observability, logging, and incident response.
- Provide hands‑on technical leadership, code reviews, and mentorship for AI/ML engineers and data scientists.
- Partner with product, design, and business teams to define high‑value AI use cases, shape roadmaps, and set success metrics.
- Lead cross‑functional AI projects from concept through production, ensuring timely, reliable delivery and iterative improvement.
- Define offline/online evaluation metrics, human evaluation workflows, and govern AI safety, bias, PII, and regulatory compliance.
- Optimize performance, cost, and reliability through model routing, distillation, caching, infrastructure right‑sizing, and SLA/SLO management.
- Development of multimodal, real‑time agents (voice, text, UI streaming).
- Building AI products under strict regulatory or privacy requirements.
- Crafting organizational AI strategies, standards, and hiring roadmaps.
