The Loan Analyst (LA) is responsible for assisting the origination team, primarily the Relationship Manager, to convert a loan application into a funded loan by assisting the origination team in getting the loan through the Genesis origination process. The LA will communicate both internally, with third-party vendors and the borrower to support the funding of loans in a timely manner while providing an excellent customer experience throughout the loan process.

  • Update internal loan processing system which includes data fields, transactional documentation, and notes
  • Prepare and submit complete loan files for asset underwriting
  • Ensure minimum needs list items are received for initial underwriting
  • Interface directly with existing borrowers and their respective teams, for asset “needs list” items, and get applications ready as quickly as possible for initial underwriting review and funding
  • Assist in the maintenance of an extensive Genesis digital filing system according to internal guidelines and naming conventions
  • Manage a high-volume loan pipeline and ensure loans close as scheduled and in compliance
  • Perform functions to move loans quickly through the pipeline, including but not limited to:
  • Request 3rd party vendor orders
  • Coordinate lien resolution with the title (and third parties) such as city liens, substandard liens, subordinate liens
  • Create a positive customer experience by effectively and comprehensively communicating Genesis’s needs list and timelines for loans and funding
  • Assist Relationship Manager in reviewing/clearing conditions
  • Complete/send Cook County, Illinois analysis to Compliance (if necessary)
  • Prepare and send regulatory disclosures (MLDS, Fair Lending Notice, ECOA – Notice of Right to Receive Appraisal)
  • Responsible for releasing loan documents and coordinating signing with Notary Public as needed
  • Conduct quality control of transactional documents such as title commitments, purchase contracts, escrow instructions, deeds, closing statements, and other documentation common to purchase and refinance transactions. Familiarity with assignments, double escrow, cash purchases, auction purchases, non-arm’s length transactions, and other non-traditional circumstances is a plus
  • Pipeline management and collaboration with multiple internal departments for closing including Evaluations, Asset and Construction Underwriting, Docs, and Legal
  • Request 3rd party reports to be ordered (i.e., appraisal)
  • Ensure third-party vendor orders are placed and received within agreed upon SLA
  • Responsible for requesting and reviewing prior to doc, prior to funding, and post-closing conditions
  • Maintain and update pipeline status, funding dates, etc. to support pipeline management on a regular basis

  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience working in the real estate related industry preferred
  • Ability to work with little supervision and take ownership of responsibilities
  • Ability to interface with high-powered clients and their teams
