Manufacturing Engineer

Description

The Transition Project Manufacturing Engineer serves as the primary liaison for technical transition programs, overseeing the planning, execution, and tracking of STP milestones. This role drives process improvements, ensures part quality, and supports production through technical expertise and cross‑functional collaboration across multiple regions.

• Accurately handle multiple technical tasks to meet business deadlines.
• Implement process improvements to enhance part quality, reduce cycle time and cost.
• Act as single point of contact for technical transition programs and manage STP milestones.
• Lead transition projects using STP Prolaunch Framework, gate, design, and technical reviews.
• Communicate across cross‑functional, multi‑regional teams.
• Conduct part manufacturing feasibility analyses and proactively resolve process, product, equipment, and tooling risks.
• Apply GD&T and interpret drawings/models.
• Manage equipment procurement including feasibility, ordering, installation, commissioning, and validation.
• Address MRB conditions and implement corrective actions (8D, RCCA).
• Participate in change board and configuration activities.
• Create manufacturing data sheets, first‑article inspection documents, and process planning documentation.
• Support production floor with drawing and technical specification interpretation.
• Use Lean tools to prevent bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement (RIE, CI, Six Sigma).
• Develop manufacturing process plans, BOMs, technical instructions, and PPAP artifacts (PFMEA, MSA, control plans, SPC).
• Leverage aerospace manufacturing processes and materials background.
• Ensure compliance with NADCAP requirements.
• Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies for process improvements.
• Design and manufacture tooling.

Requirements

Candidates should hold a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, with at least five years of aerospace manufacturing experience. Required technical knowledge includes GD&T, APQP, Six Sigma, AS‑9100, NADCAP, and familiarity with tooling, fixturing, and Industry 4.0 technologies.

• Understand assembly sequencing, aerospace manufacturing documentation, NADCAP, and AS‑9100 requirements.
• Present numerical data effectively with strong verbal and written communication.
• Possess basic knowledge of Industry 4.0, 3D printing, and 3D scanning technologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Minimum five years of experience in aerospace manufacturing.
• Knowledge of aerospace assembly, fabrication, forming, machining, GD&T, APQP, Six Sigma, AS‑9100, NPD, special processes, tooling, fixturing, and NADCAP.
