Diagnose causes of electrical problems or failures for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair.
Fabricate electrical parts; inspect completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements and compliance with applicable exterior and interior safety codes and regulations.
Inspect electrical systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance actions.

Maintain, test and repair electrical equipment for safety and efficiency; plan the layout and wiring of new or existing installations.
Maintain electrical wiring system and components in accordance with the provisions of the National Electrical Code and Industry Standards.
Operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely; assemble, install, maintain, and repair electrical apparatuses; make rough sketches; estimate cost, time and materials of electrical work.
Inspect related work performed by contractors; estimate cost, time and materials for electrical projects; participate in the maintenance and operations of an electrical shop.
Work is primarily outside along interstate highways requiring necessary safety precautions involved in working with electricity in and alongside traffic.
Inspect, troubleshoot, isolate and repair electrical malfunctions using various test instruments.
Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical load centers and distribution systems.
Clean, maintain and service tools and equipment used in the performance of duties.
Analyze electrical plant operational characteristics and make recommendations to correct deficiencies and respond safely and appropriately to emergency situations.
Inform personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions.

Minimum 2 years of field experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical components up to and including 480 VAC 3 phase systems.
Virginia Driver’s License in good standing
Ability to operate and perform work in a bucket truck.
Fast-paced, multi-tasking environment subject to short or no-notice work assignments and exposure to inclement weather.
Experience utilizing electrical schematics, diagrams, and specifications
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Thorough knowledge of electrical theory and methods, materials, tools, equipment, and systems used in the electrical trade.
Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License.
High School diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
Licensed Master Electrician
Weekend, evening, and overtime work may be required. Standing for prolonged periods of time, walking, lifting, carrying; frequently reaching, kneeling, climbing, bending, twisting, crouching, and balancing can be expected.
18 years of age or older
A fingerprint based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) will be conducted prior to employment.
Drug Screening will be conducted prior to employment.
Experienced in and/or knowledgeable of traffic monitoring and control systems.
