What you would be doing

- Provide on-site technical leadership and mentoring for junior technicians.
- Travel to project sites, often on short notice, for scheduled or emergency service.
- Coordinate with contractors, utilities, and clients during system outages or upgrades.
- Interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and OEM manuals.
- Support remote monitoring and diagnostics teams with field-level feedback and analysis.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC, and company safety protocols.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system faults using SCADA, PLCs, and other diagnostic tools.
- Perform commissioning, routine maintenance, and emergency repairs on BESS equipment (inverters, battery racks, PCS, HVAC, transformers, and switchgear).
- Document all field activities, including service reports, commissioning records, and safety audits.
- Serve as liaison between field operations and engineering/support teams.

- Ability to work independently in remote environments
- OEM certifications from BESS manufacturers (e.g., Tesla, Fluence, Sungrow, Powin, etc.)
- Safety-focused mindset
- Proficient with test equipment (multimeters, insulation testers, IR cameras, etc.).
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Comfortable working on energized systems up to 1,000VDC / 480VAC.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
- Availability for on-call rotations and emergency response
- Experience with SCADA and industrial communication protocols (Modbus, CANbus, etc.)
- Strong understanding of AC/DC theory, 3-phase power systems, and energy storage system architectures.
- Familiarity with power plant operations, microgrids, or hybrid systems.
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- High school diploma or GED; Technical certification or associate degree in electrical, electronics, or mechanical engineering.
- Adaptability to fast-paced, evolving technologies
- Problem-solving and critical thinking
- 5+ years of experience in field service, with at least 2 years specific to BESS or related power systems (PV, UPS, MV systems, etc.).
- NABCEP, OSHA 30, NFPA 70E certification a plus.
- Frequent travel up to 75%
- Leadership and mentoring ability
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively.
