Resident Engineer

• Plans, reviews and assigns work of subordinate field or construction field office personnel.
• Reviews daily inspection reports and other project documentation.
• Attends and may lead construction meetings with client and contractors.
• Leads the entire construction management team
• Oversees materials testing activities.
• Reviews project activities with client and contractor's field supervision resolving disputes and other daily issues.
• Reviews construction processes and engineering layouts.

We are seeking a Resident Engineer/Structures Rep with 3+ years of experience in the public market, technical experience in roadway, stormwater, small bridges, and related experience in public works planning, design, and construction management.

Resident Engineer / Structures Representative (Bridge) Required Skills & Required Experience

Southstar | DCCM has an immediate opening for an experienced Resident Engineer with Structures Engineering (bridge) construction experience. The full-time hybrid positions (remote and job site) and require travel to serve our client.

• Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to pass a driving record background check.
• Relevant project experience on transportation, utility, and Local Assistance projects with proven results.
• At least 3 years working as a Resident Engineer on Caltrans Highway improvement projects of similar size and complexity.
• Registered Professional Engineer or EIT in the State of California.
• Knowledge of Caltrans policies and procedures, and roadway construction means and methods.
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Ability to document all field activities, work in a collaborative manner with the owner and contractor and represent DCCM | Southstar and our clients in the highest capacity.
• Current experience as a Resident Engineer and/or Structures Representative (bridge) on public agency transportation projects.
• Solid working knowledge of managing federally funded roadway construction in California, including the following work elements: earthwork, grading, concrete and asphalt paving, traffic control, concrete structure construction, underground utilities, and SWPPP. Bridge structure experience (small bride preferred).
