Technical knowledge: prepare designs for DC and AC collection systems and power plant controllers. Projects will focus on design and analysis and will include preparing plans and specifications, writing reports, and developing cost estimations. The work will be related to renewable energy facilities.
Project management: proposal development including defining work scopes, deliverables, schedules, and budget. Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing projects. Help ensure project milestones are met and provide regular updates to team members and clients.
Collaboration: build and sustain strong relationships with clients and internal teams. Collaborate across disciplines to align technical approaches with client goals while contributing to a positive, inclusive team culture.
Staff development: support the growth and development of team members.

Experience with collection system studies, including ampacity, short circuit, reactive power, grounding, insulation coordination, harmonic, and transient overvoltage.
Authoritative capabilities and experience applying industry-standard resource modeling and assessment techniques (PVsyst, Windographer, etc.).
10+ years of related experience.
Experience with data collection, post-construction measurement campaigns (including power performance testing), and project contracts.
Working knowledge of codes, standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the project assignments described above.
Driver’s license: Possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Education: bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
Experience with power plant controllers.
Experience with statistical analysis of solar and wind data, resource and net energy production forecasts (including uncertainty/variability analysis and loss assumptions), design, site conditions, and technology suitability.
Knowledge and experience with solar DC and AC solar collection system design.
Work environment: ability to work in locations that feature the rough terrain typical of construction sites. Safety training will be provided prior to being given work assignments on these sites. Compensation: Anticipated range of $89,000–112,000 annually. Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance. This position is classified as exempt (salaried) under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Hybrid: A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position can be based out of Barr’s Minneapolis, Duluth, or Hibbing, Minnesota; Denver, Fort Collins, or Wheat Ridge, Colorado; or Ann Arbor or Grand Rapids, Michigan, offices.
