The successful candidate will be required to provide input and expertise in the design of onshore pipeline systems at all design phases from feasibility to FEED including route definition, mechanical design and pipeline installation engineering including pre-commissioning. This will include the execution and delivery of the design of onshore pipelines in both traditional oil and gas projects as well as energy transition such as CCUS, Hydrogen, Ammonia etc.

  • Provide technical input for the delivery of onshore pipeline scopes.
  • Provide engineering support for bids and tenders related to the design and construction of onshore pipelines.
  • Manage the delivery of discreet packages of work in line with project requirements.
  • Provide general supervision, and support to junior and graduate engineers.
  • Support the team’s technological advancements.
  • Accountable for updating the lead pipeline engineer on work progress and aiding in the development of project cost estimates and schedules.
  • Provide procurement support including the develop of material take-offs / specifications & data sheets, preparation of scopes of work, and assistance to technical clarifications.
  • Conduct and verify mechanical design calculations for onshore pipelines during concept, pre-FEED, and FEED phases, covering aspects such as wall thickness, equivalent stress, buoyancy, expansion, anchor force, and upheaval buckling.
  • Develop and evaluate pipeline routes including the preparation of routing reports, performance of crossing engineering and the development of route maps / alignment sheets.
  • Prepare design reports, technical notes, philosophies and pipeline specifications related to onshore pipeline installation including constructability assessments and support to pre-commissioning & testing activities.
  • Collaborate with engineers from various disciplines and other global engineering centres to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Support geotechnical and topographical survey work including the development of associated specifications and scopes of work.

Further it is expected that the Senior Onshore Pipeline Engineer will need to interact with our other disciplines and global engineering centres.

  • Must be able to interpret, organise, and execute assignments, as well as support lead engineer in coordinating the onshore pipeline design team effectively.
  • Experience with GIS software and able to support preparation of onshore pipeline route maps and alignment sheets.
  • Good computer literacy with particular competence in MS office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Mathcad.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.12 requirements and the design of CO2 pipelines.
  • Must have good communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Previous experience in the planning, design, and engineering of onshore pipelines.
  • Basic knowledge of project management principles.
  • Working knowledge of pipeline construction methods (HDD, Auger Bore, Direct Pipe, trenching, etc.) and their impact on operational and environmental design.
  • Full command of English language.
  • Experience using AutoPIPE and Caesar II to assess pipelines and pipeline components.
  • Minimum - first Degree or equivalent in relevant Engineering discipline and CEng with relevant onshore pipeline design experience.
  • Working knowledge of international design codes and practices for onshore pipelines in particular ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, ISO 13623 and PD 8010-1.
