Precon Engineer (entry level in Gainesville and Orlando)

Description

The Preconstruction Engineer supports the estimating and planning phases of commercial construction projects by preparing bids, cost estimates, constructability reviews, and coordinating project details. The role requires a detail‑oriented, analytical, and collaborative professional with a solid understanding of construction systems and processes. Working closely with project teams, the engineer delivers high‑quality, cost‑effective solutions that meet client needs and company standards.

• Review construction drawings, specs, and contracts to define scope and identify risks
• Prepare quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and bid proposals using estimating software
• Solicit, evaluate, and compare subcontractor and supplier bids
• Support constructability reviews, value engineering, and preconstruction scheduling
• Collaborate with project teams and clients to align scope, schedule, and deliverables
• Assist with project handoff to operations and maintain estimating databases

Requirements

• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
• Valid driver’s license required
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or 5 years equivalent experience)
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and cost structures
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating/takeoff software
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
• Collaborative attitude and commitment to teamwork and client satisfaction
