Journeyman Backhoe Operator

Description

• Set Trench plates.
• Support and participate in utility installations.
• Maintains the work area to ensure it’s clean, sweeps and picks up debris.
• Maintain any barriers and caution tape around excavation at all times to maintain a safe environment.
• Maintain status of a Certified Rigger and Trench Competent Person
• Perform ladder climbing.
• Excavate for duct banks, underground lighting and branch conduit, vaults, etc. as directed.
• Operates backhoes, bulldozers, wheeled front end loaders, excavators, bobcats, ditch witches, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, etc.
• Utilize heavy equipment to set manholes, transformers, pullboxes, shoreboxes, shoring, etc. as directed.
• Maintain a standing position for long periods of time while performing repetitive actions while performing duties.
• Attach a load to be set in place (Only to be performed by a Certified Rigger).

Requirements

• Maintain a valid Operator License
• Maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Experience in commercial and industrial construction required.
• Lift 50 lbs. from the ground and pull 50 lbs. of force.
• Fully squat, stoop or kneel while performing duties.
• Valid Driver’s License
• Understand grade stakes and read utility markings.
• Ability to operate equipment listed under essential duties.
• Executive Order 11246 including Pay Transparency Nondiscrimination Provision (41 C.F.R. part 60)
• Five years or more of operating experience preferred.
