The Building Technician will support the Facilities Operations Team at a client’s campus near Calgary International Airport. The team ensures the buildings are safe and comfortable 24/7 for employees and guests, and the technician will gain experience with aviation‑specific safety protocols, environmental controls, and critical infrastructure that supports round‑the‑clock airline operations.
This position works four 10‑hour days per week, from Saturday through Tuesday, with shifts typically from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The technician must also be available for additional coverage and participate in an on‑call rotation.
Key duties include maintaining building systems, overseeing vendor performance, handling security and access controls, ensuring compliance with fire and code regulations, and responding to emergencies. The role also involves routine inspections, general repairs, and accurate documentation of work performed.
Applicants need at least one year of building or facility maintenance experience, the ability to obtain a Transport Canada security clearance, and working knowledge of HVAC, building automation, system controls, and fire alarm systems. A valid driver’s licence, reliable vehicle, and willingness to work weekends and be on‑call are required.
Preferred qualifications include a 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate (or the ability to obtain it within six months), post‑secondary education in automation, mechanical or electrical fields, and knowledge of airline operations and airport protocols.
