A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil or geological engineering with a preference for a master’s degree in geotechnical engineering.
Proven capabilities in planning and supervising geotechnical investigations and in writing reports and technical communications.
Previous experience using GeoStudio 2007 Products and MS Office is essential.
A minimum of 12 years of relevant geotechnical engineering and foundation design experience.
Registered as a Professional Engineer in western or northern Canada.
Strong all-round academic knowledge of geotechnical engineering.
Strong people skills and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Arctic engineering and permafrost engineering experience is preferred, but not necessary. Experience in geotechnical reconnaissance and site characterization is essential.
Experience or aptitude for proposal writing, client development, working in a team setting to meet timelines and other skills appropriate to consulting.
Expertise in foundation engineering.
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and possess a valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent).
Some travel will be required in this position throughout Western Canada, and candidates must be prepared to undertake short field assignments possibly lasting up to one week at a time.
Previous experience leading, mentoring and coaching team members.
Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
Experience with engineering design software will be an advantage. Examples include Plaxis, Lpile, GRLWEAP, DYNA, FLAC and Settle 3D.\
Previous experience in site reconnaissance and investigations to assess site suitability for development of infrastructure.
