The Procurement Engineer – Mechanical will manage day‑to‑day procurement of mechanical and HVAC systems, such as chillers, AHUs, FCUs, ductwork, ventilation equipment, controls and related accessories. The role prepares RFQs, conducts technical and commercial evaluations, and coordinates with material engineers, suppliers, engineering and site teams to ensure timely, compliant, and cost‑controlled delivery of all mechanical packages.
Key responsibilities include preparing RFQs and RFPs with accurate scopes, drawings and specifications; coordinating material submittals and pre‑qualification documents; conducting due‑diligence and techno‑commercial evaluations; negotiating pricing, delivery and warranty terms; and issuing contracts, purchase orders and letters of intent in accordance with approvals.
The engineer tracks procurement status against the baseline program, collaborates with engineering on design changes, liaises with site teams on delivery priorities, identifies risks and proposes mitigation, and supports value‑engineering and alternative sourcing initiatives. Weekly status updates are provided to the MEP Procurement Manager.
- Prepare detailed RFQs and RFPs with scope, drawings, specifications and BOQs.
- Coordinate material submittals, pre‑qualification documents and technical compliance matrices with the Material Engineer.
- Conduct due‑diligence reports, techno‑commercial evaluations and comparative analysis for vendors and subcontractors.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, warranties and technical compliance with suppliers.
- Issue contracts, purchase orders and letters of intent following the authority matrix.
- Maintain procurement logs, long‑lead item trackers and ensure compliance with BESIX procedures.
- Track procurement status against the baseline program and provide weekly updates to the MEP Procurement Manager.
- Collaborate with engineering, planning and site teams to manage design changes and delivery priorities.
- Identify procurement risks and propose mitigation or alternative sourcing solutions.
- Support value‑engineering initiatives to optimize cost and performance.

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and have 5‑8 years of mechanical/HVAC procurement experience on large‑scale construction projects, preferably with a Tier‑1 contractor. They need strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, proven ability to manage long‑lead items, hands‑on experience with RFQ/RFP processes, familiarity with FIDIC contracts, and proficiency in ERP/e‑procurement platforms such as SAP or Oracle.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5‑8 years experience in mechanical/HVAC procurement on large‑scale construction projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of chillers, boilers, pumps, fans, ductwork and control systems.
- Proven ability to manage long‑lead, mission‑critical items and vendor delivery schedules.
- Hands‑on experience with RFQ/RFP preparation, supplier evaluation and negotiations.
- Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and EPC/main‑contractor procurement processes.
- Proficiency in ERP/e‑procurement systems such as SAP, Oracle, JDE or IFS.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering, QA/QC, commercial and site teams.
