General Manager

Description

The General Manager (GM) serves as a key leader, strategic decision-maker, and problem-solver, responsible for the overall performance, growth, and operational success of the electrical business. This role includes managing all aspects of day-to-day operations while driving profitability, team engagement, customer satisfaction, and compliance. The GM will oversee project execution, service operations, and business development while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement in a competitive and fast-paced environment.

• Read and interpret construction plans and specifications; oversee accurate take-offs and bid preparation.
• Be a proactive safety ambassador, upholding and promoting a culture of safety across all job sites and teams.
• Conduct regular team meetings to align on goals, share updates, and foster open communication.
• Lead the pursuit of growth opportunities through relationship development, plan/spec bidding, and service expansion.
• Oversee project execution from pre-construction to closeout, ensuring quality, timeliness, and safety.
• Collaborate closely with other department leads (HVAC, Plumbing, BD) to support cross-functional growth.
• Develop and implement training plans to support employee growth and skill development.
• Review and manage financial forecasts, budgets, and reports; ensure timely and accurate flow of operational paperwork.
• Lead and track performance through KPIs and other business metrics.
• Conduct financial and operational analysis to identify trends and proactively resolve problem areas.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, and enforce adherence to company code of conduct.
• Provide clear direction and leadership by communicating the company’s mission, vision, and strategic goals.
• Manage and grow the electrical service business while maintaining a strong customer focus.
• Maintain full operational responsibility for profit and loss, revenue targets, and expense control.

• Track record of delivering exceptional customer service and building long-term client relationships.
• Comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced business environment.
• Deep understanding of regulatory compliance, quality standards, and safety protocols.
• Effective communicator with strong organizational, time management, and delegation skills.
• Electrical license required; Marion County Electrical Contractor License preferred, or ability to obtain within 60 days.
• Proven experience in a leadership role within a residential, commercial, or industrial electrical business.
• Strong business acumen with demonstrated success in financial oversight, forecasting, and budget management.
• Fully understand and utilize company software systems and ensure accounting practices align with corporate compliance standards.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, including the ability to read, interpret, and bid off plans and specifications.
• Excellent leadership and team-building skills with experience in training, mentoring, and performance management.
• Experience managing both construction and service operations within the electrical industry.
