Production Control Supervisor

Description

As Production Supervisor you will direct a work team to meet daily production schedules for assembly and fabrication while maintaining high standards for efficiency, quality and safety.

Key duties include organizing workflow, assigning tasks, handling absences, and solving problems; controlling costs by reducing scrap and rework; anticipating and responding to material shortages, equipment malfunctions and production delays; providing technical assistance and coordinating repairs; collaborating with engineering to improve cost, simplify work, and optimize scheduling; supervising, evaluating and training staff; participating in accident investigations and corrective actions; enforcing safety policies; keeping accurate production and employee records; and applying LEAN tools such as VSM, SMED, 5S, TPM and Kaizen to improve key business drivers.

• Direct daily production schedules for assembly/fabrication of sub‑assemblies, parts, and units.
• Organize workflow, assign tasks, manage absences and resolve on‑the‑floor issues.
• Control costs by minimizing scrap and rework.
• Anticipate and address material shortages, equipment malfunctions and production delays.
• Provide technical assistance and expedite equipment repairs.
• Collaborate with engineering to reduce costs, simplify work, and improve scheduling.
• Supervise, evaluate and train production staff.
• Participate in accident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Enforce safety policies and promote a Zero Harm environment.
• Maintain accurate production and employee records.
• Apply LEAN methodologies (VSM, SMED, 5S, TPM, Kaizen) to improve key business drivers.

Requirements

The position requires an associate degree or equivalent experience, at least six years in a manufacturing or production environment, and a minimum of three years supervising production staff. Basic welding experience, strong people‑management skills, and proficiency with the MS Office suite are also required.

Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree, one year of additional manufacturing experience, and Lean or Six Sigma experience using LEAN tools. Salary ranges from $68,000 to $85,000, dependent on education, experience and market data.
