Wind Turbine Technician - Tech One Program

Description

Participants receive GWO-accredited safety and technical training, work primarily at a local wind site on service teams, and report to the Program and Site Managers while supporting preventive, scheduled, and unscheduled turbine maintenance under the guidance of a Lead Technician.

• Work in confined spaces and perform repetitive motions, kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, standing, bending
• Follow all Environmental, Health and Safety procedures
• Perform mechanical installations, maintenance, operations, and upgrades
• Ensure work complies with customer requirements and established procedures
• Document work, submit progress reports, and report policy violations
• Repair or replace parts and safely use activity tools
• Dismantle and assemble basic machinery, components, or tooling

Requirements

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States, possess a high school diploma or associate degree in a mechanical or wind‑energy discipline (or equivalent experience), and be prepared to complete extensive safety, tower, technical, and LOTO training as well as background and drug screenings.

The role demands physical stamina to climb 300‑ft towers, work at heights and in confined spaces, handle repetitive lifting, and maintain a valid driver’s license, all while adapting to dynamic field conditions and varying schedules.

• Authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship)
• High School Diploma/GED and Associate Degree in Mechanical or Wind Energy (or equivalent experience)
• Complete basic safety, tower safety, technical, LOTO training, background check, and drug screening
• Strong mechanical and electrical background (preferred)
• Proficient in reading/writing English and interpreting diagrams/schematics
• Competent with MS Office Suite
• Initiative and ability to work without direct supervision
• Adaptability to dynamic environment
• Effective team communication
• Ability to follow instructions and strong organizational skills
• Ability to climb 300‑ft wind tower multiple times daily
• Ability to walk across hub and perform emergency repelling
• Comfortable working at heights over 300 ft
• Meet ladder weight limit (250‑300 lb) with PPE
• Lift/repeat up to 50 lb; successful climb test and tower rescue training
• Valid driver’s license with clean record
• Travel up to 25% and work holidays, weekends, overtime as needed
• Work at heights and in all weather conditions
• Maintain valid driver’s license and clear driving record
