Emergency Preparedness and Response is responsible for enterprise‑level emergency management planning, training, exercises, and prevention within PG&E’s Wildfire, Emergency & Operations. The Emergency Response Department evaluates business needs to develop strategies aligned with related groups, increases preparedness, instills Incident Command System understanding, and responds to enterprise‑wide emergencies.
The senior manager partners with leaders to set strategic direction for emergency preparedness, response, and public partnerships, oversees staff implementing plans, training, exercises, communications, and incident management, serves as liaison to public safety agencies, and ensures compliance with safety policies and regulations. The role is hybrid, working remotely and at an assigned location within the PG&E service territory.
The manager drives development and execution of wildfire risk reduction and safety program goals, supervises staff, builds executive‑level agency partnerships, creates and presents emergency‑management strategies, collaborates with lines of business on preparedness, response, and recovery plans, enhances Incident Command System competency, ensures staff readiness across departments, provides strategic input for electric or gas restoration efforts, monitors weather and outage predictions, authorizes emergency activation levels, develops response metrics, incorporates post‑event feedback, and leads recruitment, training, performance management, and recognition of personnel.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent utility experience, 10 years of relevant experience (including 2 years in a utility role and 8 years in emergency management) and 2 years of supervisory experience. Desired qualifications encompass a degree in Emergency Management or related field, senior‑level Incident Command System experience, curriculum development, performance coaching, NIMS/ICS certifications, deep knowledge of utility emergency plans and public agency frameworks, strong communication and leadership abilities, analytical decision‑making, and excellent organizational detail.
PG&E provides a salary range based on locality—Bay Area $147,000‑$251,000; California $140,000‑$238,000—subject to factors such as skills, experience, and equity, and the role is eligible for discretionary incentive compensation.
