Works closely with sales team on a daily basis to ensure pricing is competitive and up to date for our suppliers
Work with Metals Recycling team to determine trade requirements for executing strategic plans
Negotiate agreements that maximize volume while maintaining desired margin
Assists upper management in the development of a purchasing strategy
Foster positive working relationships with all internal customers including all metal recycling yards
Manage and control all applicable buy/sell contracts and associated shipped volumes
Work closely with production accounting and finance personnel to ensure the smooth flow of information and proper tracking of volumes, qualities and revenues associated with marketing at each facility
Seek and develop relationships with new customers to cultivate high value opportunities in addition to maintaining our existing relationships
Regularly visit current and prospective suppliers at their facilities and perform inspection of materials to assess and maintain quality standards
Quickly resolve supplier issues that may arise from late shipments or quality concerns in a manner that is respectful and fair to both parties and allows for future business and relationship development
Keeping up to date with developments in the global market and reacting positively and creatively to international economic and political developments. Forecasting market direction
Trade volumes during index window to lock in product spreads and facility profit margins
Discuss freights with shipping lines
Ensure all transactions are accomplished in accordance with internal trading, credit, and risk policies
Assist in generating long term opportunities to grow markets and acquire assets in the assigned market area to increase the sustainability of the business

Strong background and knowledge of the metals recycling industry
5+ years’ experience related to commodity trading or in a business development role
Excellent understanding of the product, logistical chain, risk involved and best practices to deliver proper execution of trade
Team player who enjoys learning and contributing to team goals
Strong ability to build working relationships and contacts within the organization as well as with industry, external regulators, vendors, and contractors
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point). High Proficiency in programming functionality would be considered an asset
Successful candidate will have a degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Programming or Commerce/Finance
Detail oriented with the ability to do research and understand economic drivers
The ability to demonstrate success in assuming a high degree of accountability for individual initiatives, common sense solutions, and professional decisions
