The primary purpose of this role is to advise senior executive leaders on external and employee communication strategies and to lead the development and coordination of those strategies to support the Mid‑Atlantic South Marketing and Communications vision at BGE, Pepco, and DPL Maryland. The incumbent will also act as the primary spokesperson for the news media and cultivate relationships with internal stakeholders, media, government entities, and public interest groups.
Key duties include ensuring high‑quality communication of company goals to external stakeholders such as media, customers, elected officials, and regulators, as well as overseeing all employee communication programs. The role is responsible for managing the corporate brand and advertising program, supervising the communications budget, and directing a team of five professionals through hiring, talent development, and performance management.
The position requires developing and executing both internal and external communication strategies in close collaboration with senior executives and other Communications Directors. It also involves measuring program effectiveness, providing oversight, and delivering thought leadership while working cross‑functionally with the Senior Manager of Communications and direct reports.
Minimum qualifications consist of a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field (or 15‑20 years of equivalent experience), at least 12 years of relevant experience in a fast‑paced technical organization, and five years in a leadership role. Candidates must demonstrate strategic thinking, project‑management expertise, strong intellectual capacity, and exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills.
A preferred qualification is an MBA, which can further strengthen the candidate’s strategic and business acumen.
Compensation includes a salary range of $160,800 to $221,100, an additional $50,000 annual Long‑Term Incentive Plan, a 30% annual bonus, 401(k) match with company contributions, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, generous paid time off, parental leave, and various wellbeing programs such as tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance, and fitness reimbursement.
