  • Risk Management: Develops policies and procedures to manage risks. Participates in audits and ensures compliance with legislation and regulations.
  • Operational Planning: Develops and implements annual plans, objectives, and targets. Establishes policies and procedures to support programs and stays informed of industry trends.
  • The role involves a combination of office work, external presentations, and attendance at fire scenes for investigation purposes.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Advises senior leaders and collaborates with community partners on fire prevention programs. Leads public education sessions and engages stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex situations, make sound decisions, and lead change initiatives.
  • Extensive knowledge of fire prevention, suppression, and investigation practices.
  • Strong understanding of relevant national, provincial, and civic legislation/bylaws related to fire services.
  • Proven experience in program/service delivery models, policy development, planning, budgeting, and human resources management.
  • The Fire Marshal may be exposed to heightened physical, visual, auditory, and concentration demands when attending emergency scenes.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations, particularly during emergency scene investigations.
  • Successful candidate will be required to provide proof of acquired education.
  • Successful candidate may be required to obtain and provide a satisfactory criminal record check, as per the City of Regina's Criminal Record Check Policy.
  • Experience with technical fire suppression systems and ability to interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with stakeholders, providing public education, and managing staff.
