The Role

Overview

Design and analysis engineer for offshore HVAC/HVDC cables and related systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • cable design
  • hvdc design
  • gis review
  • spec review
  • team mentoring
  • procedure generation

Tasks

-Installation, Operation and Maintenance procedure or guideline generation. -The role includes the support of junior members of the team, with training, guidance and knowledge transfer. -Electrical & mechanical designs, calculations, specification and report writing for HVAC and HVDC cables in accordance with industry standards and best practices. -Depending upon the project and requirements, the role will involve review of client specifications, vendor documentation. -Alongside HVAC Inter Array Cables, the team requires the offshore cable design engineer to support design works for HVDC Interconnectors up to 525kV. This role requires an understanding of the growing HVDC interconnector market and its requirements. The role will involve design of the cable element and critical interface with the HVDC Team whereby the onshore converter station and grid connection design is managed. -The role will require in certain projects the review of GIS data. The output being to advise a client on subsea cable routing, adjust route positions accordingly or advise on CBRA / BAS requirements. -Conduct detailed design engineering for new projects, collaborating with other departments to ensure understanding of all customer/project requirements and to support the Proposals, Purchasing, Project Management, Quality and Production teams.
