The Operations Supervisor leads a specific work shift, overseeing all waste handling activities including sampling, analysis, processing, documentation, and disposition of materials received or shipped from the facility. The role ensures plant and personnel safety by enforcing procedures and providing required training, and participates in selecting, developing, and evaluating team members to maintain efficient operations.
Key responsibilities include supervising operations personnel, managing inventory compliance, coordinating with vendors, transporters, and treatment facilities, and maintaining housekeeping and proper chemical storage. The supervisor directs off‑loading operations, oversees safe waste treatment through sample collection and analysis, reviews and signs RCRA manifests, and ensures batch clearance approvals for effluent filtering. Additionally, the role trains staff, participates in emergency response for on‑ and off‑site incidents, and manages performance, hiring, discipline, and employee concerns for a team of two or more employees.
Preferred qualifications encompass knowledge of personnel management, waste processing, recycling techniques, and relevant regulatory requirements such as DOT training. Candidates must demonstrate accuracy, attention to detail, the ability to prioritize, and strong focus while handling multiple responsibilities. Minimum qualifications require three to five years of progressively responsible experience in hazardous waste management.
