As a Senior Engineer – Commissioning Capability you will shape how the commissioning function evolves, leading the creation, implementation and continual refinement of commissioning processes, methods, tools and standards. In the short term these assets will support the design development of the Rolls‑Royce SMR, ensuring safe and efficient commissioning, while long‑term they will prepare the organisation for project delivery.
You will be responsible for establishing integrated processes that satisfy regulatory requirements, supporting design teams to embed commissioning considerations, planning internal and external resources, and ensuring that cost, quality and schedule objectives are met. Collaboration with systems engineering, verification, construction, operations, supply‑chain and digital teams will be essential to embed commissioning practices across the business.
The ideal candidate will have direct experience commissioning nuclear installations, preferably Pressurised Water Reactors, and a solid understanding of nuclear licensing and its practical application. Proven ability to develop and improve methods, tools and personnel capability, strong analytical and systems‑thinking skills, and the capacity to conduct detailed technical reviews and give constructive feedback are also required.

The position is hybrid, based in Derby, Manchester or Warrington, with a salary band of £48,000–£63,000 plus a performance‑related bonus, benefits allowance, pension contributions, 28 days holiday, private medical cover and other perks.
