The position supports key initiatives in energy‑efficiency and demand‑response measurement, regulatory compliance, operational support, and complex modeling for portfolio planning and reporting.
- Create analytics for product development and regulatory filings focusing on energy efficiency, demand response, load management, and direct load control.
- Perform economic dispatch of demand response, load management, and direct load control programs.
- Provide regulatory support and compliance monitoring for demand response, load management, and direct load control initiatives.
- Manage special projects for the Analytics department and provide technical expertise.
- Draft testimony for regulatory proceedings and track compliance with program rules under regional transmission organizations.
- Develop strategies and programs for energy efficiency, demand response, load management, and direct load control.
- Evaluate and propose enhancements to increase the value of energy efficiency and demand response programs.
- Participate in preparing regulatory applications and filings related to demand response and energy efficiency.
- Analyze policy positions and produce analytical results to support testimony and regulatory discussions.
- Monitor federal, state, and local policies affecting energy efficiency and demand response programs.
- Support development of location‑based demand response, load management, and direct load control solutions.
- Assess cost‑effectiveness of new technologies for mass‑market and non‑residential load management.
- Provide advanced technical expertise to other company areas such as strategic planning, asset planning, and product development.
- Offer analytical support for internal customers designing and implementing energy efficiency and demand response programs.
- Proactively identify opportunities to assist internal and external stakeholders.

The preferred location is Charlotte, NC, but the role can be based anywhere in the enterprise as long as the employee can commute daily to a Duke Energy facility.
Basic qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in engineering, market research, finance, statistics, business or economics with at least three years of relevant experience, or a high‑school/GED with seven years of experience. Preferred qualifications emphasize expertise in statistical methods, DSM cost‑effectiveness, financial analysis, marketing measurement, and strong written and verbal communication.
