The Prepayments & Accruals Accountant will ensure proper US GAAP treatment for prepaid expenses and accruals, manage month‑end close activities, and maintain compliance with AECOM policies and SOX controls. This role reports to the Team Lead, Prepayments & Accruals – GBS and works closely with finance systems such as Oracle and BlackLine.
- Manage prepaid expenses and accruals ensuring US GAAP treatment and timely month‑end close.
- Prepare and post standard monthly reconciliations, journal entries, and Zero Accounts Payable (ZAP) transactions.
- Generate daily status updates during close and maintain a schedule of valid accrual entries.
- Liaise with internal auditors to verify compliance with local regulations and SOX narratives.
- Enforce adherence to AECOM accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Identify and implement process improvements, partnering with Source‑to‑Pay to drive efficiency.
- Optimize existing Oracle and BlackLine systems and evaluate new technology solutions.
- Meet internal KPIs and customer‑focused SLAs for a best‑in‑class general accounting service.
- Apply analytical thinking, problem‑solving, and collaboration across global stakeholders.
- Plan, organize, and monitor team performance against service delivery agreements.

- Demonstrate strategic decision‑making, business acumen, and change leadership.
- Communicate clearly and maintain strong customer service relationships.
- Hold CPA or equivalent qualification (preferred) with at least 2 years accounting experience, including 1 year in general accounting within a global organization.
- Experience in shared‑services operational compliance and strong English communication skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in cross‑cultural, virtual team environments.
