Description

The CAD Operator and Low Voltage Systems Designer uses software to create 2D and 3D designs for fire protection and other low‑voltage system projects. The role includes coordinating timelines and budgets, solving problems throughout the project lifecycle, and supporting both internal and external customers on system‑related questions. Most work is performed in the office with occasional site surveys as required.

• Create complete 2D/3D drawing and submittal packages for low‑voltage system projects.
• Develop and maintain drawing schedules in collaboration with the Construction Manager.
• Deliver design documents within established budget constraints.
• Attend weekly project and sales coordination meetings.
• Perform final material take‑offs and update work orders in project‑management software.
• Prepare owner documentation, archive drawings, and create system service files.
• Provide estimating and technical support to the Sales Department.
• Conduct field surveys as needed.
• Record accurate timesheets for cost allocation.
• Follow a development path toward roles such as Fire Protection Designer or Project Manager.
• Apply engineering, math, and industry standards to design decisions.
• Communicate effectively to solve problems and manage timelines and budgets.
• Maintain reliable transportation for occasional travel and site visits.
• Sit for extended periods while operating computer workstations.

Requirements

This full‑time position is located in Warrendale, PA, requires a two‑year degree or equivalent experience, and follows a day shift within the construction category. Travel is generally not required, though occasional site visits may occur.

The work environment is primarily a normal office setting with occasional off‑site work in industrial environments. Employees must be able to climb ladders, lift 25+ lbs, and sit for extended periods while operating computers.

• Hold an Associate’s degree or equivalent CAD/Drafting experience.
• Demonstrate strong proficiency with AutoCAD, Visio, Windows, and MS Office.
