The supervisor promotes GFL’s safety culture by modeling safe behaviors and enforcing all safety policies and procedures. They develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures and Task Hazard Analyses, while identifying and mitigating workplace hazards. Daily operations are overseen to meet throughput and production targets, with performance monitoring, workflow adjustments, and continuous improvement initiatives. Collaboration with the Technical Manager addresses challenging waste streams and supports new treatment processes.
A high school diploma is required, with post‑secondary education in operations management, engineering, or a mechanical trade preferred. Proven experience in a production or operations leadership role and a valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean abstract are mandatory. Strong mechanical aptitude, flexible availability for on‑call or emergency situations, and background in wastewater treatment, dewatering, rotating equipment, or hazardous waste processing are desirable. Knowledge of chemical handling, oil & gas experience, and proficiency with Google Workspace are considered assets.
The role demands a demonstrated commitment to health and safety, strong leadership and team‑building abilities, and the capacity to coach, motivate, and develop staff. Analytical and decision‑making skills are essential for improving operational efficiency, alongside excellent written and verbal communication. Effective planning, scheduling, organization, independent troubleshooting, and basic computer proficiency are also required.
