The engineer will develop and implement new or modified performance testing methods to reduce production costs and improve efficiency. They will investigate and analyze testing methods, processes, and operations to identify manufacturing modifications that increase efficiency and lower costs.
The role involves reviewing product component designs, recommending changes to facilitate manufacturing, exploit new materials, and reduce costs. High scrap or rework operations will be observed and analyzed to determine root causes, with results communicated to relevant personnel and solutions recommended. The engineer will compile cost, manpower, machine capability, space utilization, and material handling data to support new manufacturing methods or modifications, and will oversee and coordinate production methods for efficiency and cost control.
Studies will be conducted to prepare and recommend new or revised operating procedures that maintain control, improve operations, and facilitate processing. Tooling requirements for assigned lines will be analyzed, developed, and justified, with procurement, implementation, and utilization of tools approved. Significant data related to manufacturing problems or cost‑reduction studies, including vendor capabilities and make‑or‑buy economics, will be compiled and analyzed.
The position requires daily on‑site reporting at the Athens, GA manufacturing facility, Monday through Friday. Relocation is not provided; candidates must reside within 50 miles of Athens and be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, at least one year of engineering experience in a manufacturing or testing environment (or equivalent co‑op/internship), familiarity with controls instrumentation, process controls, performance testing, PLC programming, automation or robotics, and proficiency with drawing/3D‑modeling software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks. Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams) are also required.
