Under limited supervision the Instructional Technologist performs a range of instructional support functions, including analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of training programs. The role provides trainees with the knowledge and skills needed to work safely and competently, assists training staff, and may lead a specific subject area or training program while being accountable for results. The position may also serve as a Subcontract Technical Representative, coordinating subcontractor personnel, budgeting, man‑hour accounting and work oversight.
- Present training in a variety of settings and monitor trainee achievement of objectives.
- Conduct trainee evaluation and remediation.
- Maintain accurate training records and files, such as rosters, examinations, and transmittals.
- Evaluate training effectiveness by conducting end‑of‑course evaluations and compiling exam results data.
- Provide training status updates to management.
- Conduct needs, job, and task analyses on assigned training projects.
- Develop and maintain task‑to‑training matrices.
- Design training objectives, sequence of instruction, methods, and settings based on required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
- Develop test items that measure trainee performance, align with cognitive objectives, and ensure predictive validity.
- Develop or revise training materials based on feedback and changes to equipment, procedures, policies, using various media and learning experiences.
- Evaluate training materials for compliance with DOE O 426.2, Manual 4B, industry standards, and good practices.
- Conduct training program assessments and Management Field Observations (MFOs).
- Provide guidance to training staff on instructor skills and the training process (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation).
- Develop Training Program Descriptions (TPDs) for assigned programs.
- Respond to internal and external audit and surveillance reports, develop corrective actions (STAR), and track closure.
- Perform varied training administration tasks such as duplicating/producing materials, completing OSR or electronic forms, and navigating the TRAIN/AQM system.

Candidates must meet one of the following education combinations: a high school diploma with 12 years of relevant experience, an associate degree with 8 years, or a bachelor’s degree with 4 years of experience in education or the subject being instructed.
The role requires at least ten years of experience as a qualified/certified rigger or mobile crane operator, with substantial expertise in rigging and crane operations. Applicants must be familiar with the SRS Learning Management System, task‑to‑training analysis, curriculum development, and applicable federal laws, DOE orders and SRS policies. Current qualification as an instructor under the SRS 4B Manual and knowledge of TM90‑7 the Site Hoisting and Rigging Manual are also required.
Work is performed in an office setting with standard computer equipment; occasional light to moderate lifting and movement are required. - Minimum ten years’ experience as a qualified/certified rigger or mobile crane operator.
- Have working knowledge of TM90‑7 The Site Hoisting and Rigging Manual.
