Laser/CNC Operator - Wayland/1st shift

Description

The role involves operating laser equipment, handling material loading, ensuring quality through gauges and prints, performing routine maintenance, and setting up multiple jobs daily while adhering to safety and procedural standards.

• Use hard gauges and calipers to verify part quality.
• Operate forklift and crane to load material into the machine.
• Adjust and troubleshoot machine parameters to ensure premium part quality.
• Perform daily preventative maintenance and set up multiple jobs per day.
• Interpret prints and work instructions to determine cutting specifications.
• Work with minimal direction, adhering to standard procedures.
• Follow MEC safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

Candidates should have at least one year of laser experience, strong communication and attendance, and the ability to work safely according to MEC policies. A positive, can‑do attitude, eagerness to learn, good hand‑eye coordination, attention to detail, and a collaborative team mindset are essential.

• Read and follow work orders and instructions independently.
• Possess laser experience, preferably with tube lasers.
• Knowledge of tubular steel manufacturing and fabrication processes (a plus).

Benefits

Our growing company is hiring a first‑shift Laser Operator at our Wayland, Michigan facility. The schedule alternates weekly between three‑day and four‑day work weeks, providing a three‑day weekend every other week, with daily hours from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The position starts at a minimum of $21 per hour, includes a $1,000 sign‑on bonus, paid vacation upon hire, and benefits after 30 days.
