- Training and supervision of plant personnel during development trials and commissioning
- Lead HAZOP studies for new and existing operations on site, follow up on closure of actions arising.
- Drive the development of the basis of safety operating envelops for a variety of high hazard chemical processes and demonstrate the reliability of these to the Regulator.
- Provide technical support in troubleshooting plant problems as identified by Plant Management
- Active participation in HSE COMAH Intervention program, with primary focus on the strategic topics of Process Safety (developing and improving PSPI’s) and Aging Plant, demonstrating acceptable standards of performance and addressing actions arising from HSE inspections.
- Identify and implement plant modifications to improve safety, efficiency or reduce environmental impact. Conduct appropriate hazard assessment as part of authorisation procedures.
- Balancing the day-to-day troubleshooting demands vs longer term improvement activities.
- Establish best practise and process optimisation to underpin the corporate process knowledge.
- Support the development and maintenance of the safety management system as required to satisfy legal requirements (COMAH & REACH) and ISO standards.
- Commission and follow through to acceptance new or modified plant ensuring operational requirements are met. Provide suitable documentation to support this.
- During commissioning and trials, supervision of operations on multi-million-pound plant with raw materials of the value of thousands of pounds
- Support the introduction of new processes on to the Eccles Site, developing training programs to ensure safe operation.

- Ability to handle a multitude of issues simultaneously with competing priorities and to perform under pressure.
- Chartered or working towards chartership
- Experience working on a Top Tier COMAH site.
- Ability to communicate confidently and effectively with levels from shop floor to senior management;
- Ability to handle a multitude of issues simultaneously in line with specified priorities and to perform under pressure;
- Knowledge of ATEX/DSEAR compliance and hazardous area classification
- Communication and presentational skills to enable instruction (verbal and written) to other employees in new operational techniques/new process introduction, H&S matters.
- Strong technical acumen and awareness of own capabilities to engage with external agencies, particularly the Regulators, on Process Safety matters.
- Degree level or equivalent in Chemical or Process Engineering with associated chartership;
- Communication and presentational skills to enable instruction (verbal and written) to other employees in Process Safety related matters, etc
- Ability to communicate confidently and effectively with levels from shop floor to senior management.
- Large diverse plant area and activities with specific process issues requiring development work.
