The Senior Business Functional Consultant serves as a business subject‑matter expert, leading moderately complex business process design and integration across transformation or major project initiatives. Operating independently, the role engages cross‑functional partners, assesses upstream and downstream impacts, and translates business needs into actionable future‑state recommendations while ensuring functional alignment and sustainable adoption.
Key responsibilities include acting as a trusted advisor for functional teams, leading program activities such as process design, requirements mapping, operational planning, and impact assessments, and independently identifying and communicating operational impacts of proposed changes. The consultant also leads functional testing cycles, partners with training teams on content design and user adoption, collaborates across functional areas to ensure end‑to‑end process continuity, and champions continuous improvement by turning pain‑point analysis into actionable recommendations.
Minimum qualifications require a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field (or equivalent experience), a solid understanding of utility processes and performance drivers, and excellent communication, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills. Candidates must have at least five years of experience in operations, business process improvement, or service delivery. Preferred qualifications include strong experience with business processes and outcomes related to products and programs, and prior product or program management experience.
