The Practice Leader – Water Treatment and Desalination is responsible for leading Stantec’s pursuits and delivery capability in Water Treatment, including seawater desalination, working with our multi‑disciplinary teams located across Australia. The PL must partner with other PLs in their market, both in Australia and New Zealand, and collaborate with the Technical Delivery Leader – Water and relevant Discipline Leaders to share materials, approaches, best practice, and consistency so the business can operate as a homogeneous ANZ business.
Reporting to the Market Leader – Treatment Water, Australia, the Practice Leader is tasked with applying strategic thinking that considers global and market trends such as climate change, net‑zero pathways, and emerging contaminants like PFAS; developing strategic business opportunities; supporting the Market Leader in pursuits; ensuring technical excellence through project delivery; maintaining consistent technical delivery across the market; identifying technical leaders within the Business Centre; and supporting leadership roles to deliver technical excellence for clients.
To be successful you will need a relevant tertiary qualification, preferably post‑graduate, and roughly 15 years of related work, technical leadership, and consulting experience or an equivalent mix of education and experience. Professional registration in a related field is required, together with experience in seawater desalination, multiple water‑treatment planning and delivery projects ranging from small facilities to large city plants, conventional and advanced treatment technologies, and a solid understanding of regulations, guidelines, and risk‑management systems for drinking water.
