Crane Supervisor with offshore experience (Ad Hoc/ Workshop)

Description

The Ad-Hoc Offshore Crane Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and performing maintenance, repairs, and 5 Yearly Major Maintenance overhauls of offshore cranes and lifting equipment, both offshore and onshore. The role involves managing maintenance teams and ensuring the proper functioning of cranes and related systems in the offshore environment while also supporting crane component overhauls in the onshore workshop. This position requires flexibility to switch between offshore duties and supporting the onshore workshop, where critical crane components are overhauled.

• Conduct regular inspections of crane components, identifying potential issues and ensuring compliance with offshore safety standards (e.g., LOLER, CE Marking)
• Responsible for the safe and productive running of the shift
• Supporting the Project Engineer in the smooth running of the project by reporting any equipment and or client issues in an appropriate and timely manner
• Ensure all maintenance activities are documented, including parts usage, work orders, and inspection results, and report regularly to Project Engineers
• Oversee the testing and quality control procedures for overhauled crane components before they are shipped back to the offshore site
• Provide support and leadership onsite via a detailed technical understanding of Cranes
• Support the onshore workshop in the disassembly, inspection, overhauling, and reassembly of crane components such as winches, hoists, drums, and gearboxes
• Review technical manuals, drawings, and other documentation to ensure overhauled components are in optimal working condition
• Supervise and coordinate 5 yearly Major Maintenance activities for all types of offshore lifting equipment, including Pedestal cranes, EOT Cranes and Davits
• Ensure that workshop maintenance procedures and safety standards are strictly followed during overhauls and repairs
• Coordinate the logistics of crane components being transported between the offshore facility and the onshore workshop, ensuring minimal operational disruptions
• Oversee the troubleshooting, and repair work for offshore cranes, hoists, and associated lifting gear as required
• Ensure all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance programs and practices are followed to ensure maximum up-time for all EnerMech equipment
• Implement preventive maintenance schedules, corrective actions, and performance monitoring to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment
• Complete Job cards and daily reporting as required by Workshop Manager and Project Engineers
• Supervise a team of maintenance technicians, providing leadership and guidance while ensuring quality and safety in all tasks performed
• Lead and manage the workshop teams in carrying out repairs, replacements, and reconditioning of crane components to ensure they meet operational specifications
• Focal point for QHSE related matters on the project at shift level, reporting to the EnerMech Contract Manager as required
• Respond to emergency crane breakdowns offshore, leading troubleshooting and repair efforts to restore operations swiftly
• Records and is responsible for all shift paperwork, toolbox talks and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with offshore and onshore teams to ensure alignment of maintenance schedules, availability of spare parts, and timely delivery of overhauled components
• Enforce strict adherence to HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) protocols during all maintenance and lifting operations offshore

Requirements

• Competent with Crane Maintenance and inspections
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in mechanical, electrical, or crane maintenance fields are required.
• Basic IT Skills - Word, Excel, etc
• Ability to compile and complete technical maintenance procedures
• OPITO Approved BOSIET
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with offshore/onshore teams and management
• Minimum of 8 years offshore experience with at least 2 in a supervisory role
• Experience in testing and pressure testing of crane components - cylinders etc
• SAP system knowledge
• Experience in strip down and rebuild of winches, motors and pumps
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex crane maintenance tasks
• Proficient in using maintenance management systems (CMMS) for tracking and reporting
• Good understanding of crane overhauls and component reconditioning processes
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to supervise teams in both offshore and onshore settings
• A degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or related fields
• Offshore experience
• Able to understand Maintenance drawings / Hydraulic drawings / Isometric drawings etc
• English Language (good written and vocabulary)
