Perform quality control constructability reviews and provide construction support
Draft and review pole loading drawings, construction drawings, crossing, encroachment and anchor permit applications
Conduct field surveys of existing aerial plant, capturing structural components, pole attributes, spans, and locations
Follow and contribute to developing procedures, processes and systems to optimize the field pick-up, data processing and analytics and design process
Promotes a culture of health, safety and environmental protection on the project by taking an active role in the implementation of the Project Specific Safety Program (PSSP) to achieve compliance with Ledcor HS&E standards, applicable OSHA acts, regulations and codes
Prepare conceptual routes, layouts, preliminary designs as well as detailed pole line designs utilizing established guidelines and specifications
Perform structure loading, conductor sag/tension, and clearance calculations; verify compliance with CSA, AEUC, and local utility standards
Consult with OSP Design, Construction and other Departments on engineering matters.
Follow design criteria utilizing industry standards and/or client specifications

Experience with CSA, AEUC codes and standards as well as specific power utility (BC Hydro Fortis BC and AB, ATCO, EPCOR, ENAMX) client and municipal requirements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong computer skills with an aptitude for learning new programs; familiar with AutoCAD, GIS (GPS hardware and software, Google Earth, ArcGIS), and MS Office (Word, Excel and OneNote). Proficiency in MS Excel required, preferably with working knowledge of Visual Basic macros. Familiar with Ai tools.
Pole line design experience, either in the power distribution or telecommunications industry is considered an asset
Working knowledge of pole line design documents, drawings, specifications and current construction practices and methodology.
Successful completion of criminal background check and pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements.
A valid Class 5 driver's license.
Eligible for or currently registered as EIT with APEGBC, APEGA, PEO considered as an asset
Experience with various pole line analysis software such as Quick Pole, SPIDAcalc and PLS CADD.
Graduate from a Technical college program preferably in Structural or civil, Telecommunications or equivalent experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil, structural, electrical or mechanical) or related discipline from an accredited engineering school is considered an asset
