Essential functions include driving operational excellence at the Clearwater plant through Kaizen and lean events, continuous improvement activities, and projects. The engineer acts as a change agent for demand‑flow technology, using state‑of‑the‑art tools and methodologies, and educates, coaches, and mentors others on Lean philosophy.
They identify potential process‑improvement projects, drive lean manufacturing activities, track project status to closure, and develop and coordinate lean training. The role leverages best‑practice strategies, ensures site‑wide consistency, facilitates Kaizen events, creates sustainment plans, and presents results to leadership.
Functional teams are guided to develop and execute lean plans that reduce cycle time, inventory, and waste, improving process quality and capacity. The engineer assists functional managers in establishing efficient process flow and encourages the use of lean tools to pull material from internal sources or customers, while staying current on lean methodologies and mentoring plant personnel.
Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree (or a high‑school diploma with equivalent experience) and at least three years of manufacturing experience with Lean concepts and tools. Desired characteristics are an engineering degree, OMLP graduation, strong interpersonal and leadership skills, proven problem‑analysis abilities, and documented experience leading programs and projects with solid project‑management expertise.
