The position involves assembling wire harnesses, building electro‑mechanical subassemblies for high‑voltage AC/DC systems, inspecting installations, and following schematics, diagrams, work instructions, and engineering specifications. Technicians also install gearboxes, generators, inverters, and other components on test stands, operate testing equipment, capture data, generate pass/fail reports, and ready completed articles for shipping or further assembly.
The Electrical Assembly Technician refurbishes wind turbine and renewable energy components at the Clipper Windpower manufacturing facility in Cedar Rapids, IA, owned by Longroad Energy. The role demands a strong work ethic, meticulous attention to detail, safe execution of electrical assembly and production testing, and strict adherence to all safety protocols and procedures.
Candidates need a high school diploma (technical education preferred), at least three years of manufacturing or production experience, the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, proficiency with Microsoft Office, familiarity with AC/DC power systems, and the ability to operate forklifts, jib cranes, and overhead cranes. They must follow Lockout/Tagout procedures, adhere to electrical PPE protocols, lift up to 50 pounds, and work safely in a shop environment.
