The Survey Crew Chief leads field operations, ensures the crew is trained on equipment, oversees data collection and documentation, and coordinates equipment and vehicle maintenance while collaborating with the team and working independently as needed.
- Oversee daily field crew operations for boundary, topographic, and construction stakeout surveys.
- Train crew members to operate total stations, levels, GPS, and data collectors.
- Establish and set reference points on construction stakeout projects such as curbs, storm sewers, and waterlines.
- Conduct daily maintenance and upkeep of survey instruments.
- Produce clear field notes and sketches documenting survey data.
- Manage maintenance of survey equipment, supplies, and vehicles.
- Collaborate with team members and work independently when required.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and at least five years of field survey experience, preferably with Leica robotic total stations, data collectors, and GPS; knowledge of DOT transportation surveying is advantageous. Additional competencies include organized data collection, familiarity with PLS/SI and AutoCAD, a valid driver’s license, willingness to travel, and the physical ability to handle equipment and work in varying weather conditions.
- Hold a high school diploma/GED and at least five years of field survey experience.
- Experience with Leica robotic total stations, data collectors, and GPS (preferred).
- Knowledge of DOT transportation surveying (a plus).
- Ability to collect organized, professional field data for various survey projects.
- Familiarity with PLS/SI and AutoCAD (preferred).
- Possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and willingness to travel.
- Capable of carrying up to 50 lb of equipment over diverse terrain.
- Able to work in all‑weather, year‑round outdoor conditions, including physical tasks such as hiking and vegetation management.
