Develop new technical courses, update and revise existing course content while developing instructional videos to compliment and support training needs;
Ensure course content is current, accurate, and aligned with FRA and company rules and regulations;
Lead classes in the instruction, testing and troubleshooting on topics that will include all facets of the the Tier 4 1010J Engine;
Structure training material and presentations into a logical sequence;
Evaluate customer satisfaction responses and recommend improvements to course content;
Provide technical advice to customers regarding proper maintenance practices, and operation of product to maximize reliability and performance;
Provide Electrical, Mechanical and Locomotive Familiarization training to internal and external customers;
Perform administrative duties associated with development of course materials and delivery and reporting on instruction;
Lead classes in the instruction, testing and troubleshooting on topics that will include all facets of AC Electrical systems including Truck Control and IAC units;
Develops recommendations for service procedures;
Provide comprehensive instruction of the Progress Rail Locomotive Electrical System and show expertise in the subject and share it with enthusiasm;
Requests photos, graphics and diagrams as necessary;
Review and Edit Technical Publications;

10+ years hands-on experience maintaining locomotive systems, preferred;
College degree with a major in engineering or equivalent electrical or mechanical training.
Relatively high level of analytical ability where problems are complex;
Vision/Hearing Requirements – Constant communications, including both talking and hearing;
Safety – Position is primarily limited to general office safety requirements. Position requires regular travel. The employee will occasionally be at construction sites, which may require use of PPE.
Frequent contact with others outside the work group;
Motion – Employee will be moving during travel and sitting when in the office;
Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills;
Excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication and conflict management skills;
Ability to travel – North America and Internationally up to (40%) and up to 4 weeks at a time.
Experience developing training materials, assessing needs of customers;
Excellent computer skills (MS Office suite).
Electrical and mechanical aptitude to understand locomotive and mechanical and electrical systems and technical operation;
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others;
Emotional Demands – Ability to lead and communicate with customers and team members. Ability to work with a team to accomplish the mission;
Training will be on EMD Equipment that will include familiarization, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of EMD locomotives;
Product knowledge along with mechanical and electrical aptitude;
Strength – Ability to travel without restrictions. Minimal lifting requirement. Frequent sitting. Occasional standing, walking;
Knowledge of Airbrake systems and older DC Electrical systems is a plus:
High School diploma or equivalent required;
High level of oral and technical writing skills;
Work involves considerable amount of creativity, perception, and initiative with wide latitude for independent action;
