  • Support DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly) reviews, ensuring efficient production readiness.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, standards, and best practices in wire harness engineering and advanced manufacturing.
  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert (SME) for wire harness applications, processes, and manufacturing methods.
  • Partner with supply chain and quality to ensure materials, connectors, and terminals meet cost, quality, and performance requirements.
  • Evaluate and recommend automation, tooling, and advanced assembly technologies for wire harness production.
  • Lead process development, validation, and optimization for new wire harness products.
  • Collaborate with customers, design engineers, and program managers to translate requirements into manufacturable solutions.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for process-related issues.
  • Provide technical support during customer interactions, RFQ reviews, and product launch activities.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, PFMEAs, and control plans.

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Manufacturing Application Engineer with a specialty in wire harness design and manufacturing processes. This role bridges the gap between product design, customer requirements, and manufacturing operations, ensuring new and existing wire harness products are efficiently engineered, validated, and launched into production. The ideal candidate combines strong application engineering expertise with hands-on knowledge of advanced manufacturing methods, materials, and process automation.

  • Experience supporting NPI (New Product Introduction) programs in wire harness manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with industry standards: IPC/WHMA-A-620, UL/CSA, automotive, aerospace, or industrial specifications.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to perform process capability studies, DOE, and SPC analysis.
  • 5+ years of experience in wire harness design, manufacturing, or applications engineering.
  • Hands-on background with wire harness assembly processes, tooling, and automation systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Knowledge of automation technologies such as robotic crimping, laser stripping, or automated testing systems.
  • Ability to balance technical depth with business and customer-facing responsibilities.
  • Strong communication skills for working with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes: crimping, soldering, sealing, bundling, testing, and overmolding.
  • Experience in automotive, aerospace, or industrial equipment industries.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and detail-oriented mindset.
  • PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or related certifications.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for harness design (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, CATIA, SolidWorks Electrical, Zuken E3).
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and project management abilities.
