Description

Replaces defective parts, using power wrenches prying bars or hand tools
Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information
Attach water tubes, stacks and liners, safety and check valves, and water and pressure gauges
Design, install, and repair boilers used to heat water for generating electric power or providing heat in refineries
Perform daily maintenance and safety checks
Inspect, clean, maintain and repair equipment
Tighten bolts to assemble frames, using power or hand wrenches
Connect fire tubes to head or water tubes to drain and headers of boilers
Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
May perform general piping work such as line breaking, installing blinds, gaskets
Drill and tap holes for installation of studs
May install equipment internals, packings, catalysts, and desiccants in vessels.
Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture

Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools needed in construction
NCCER is required
High School Diploma or GED required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines
Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of towers, heaters, exchangers, and refinery piping
Ability and willingness to travel as required
Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
Bolts or screws accessories such as manholes, hand holes, fans, gauges, and valves to vessels
Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
At least 3 years’ experience as a boilermaker
Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities
Ability to operate job related tools
Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented
Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
