Financial management: Ensure strong contract, commercial and financial risk management, accurate forecasting of both costs and revenue, take corrective action in line with JH’s authority and reporting frameworks and maximise the profit margin for the project
Direct and organise control of all cost engineering, cost reporting and forecasting
Stakeholder management: Ensure that stakeholders are actively engaged and that beneficial relationships between the project and the client, subcontractors, community and other external parties are developed and maintained
Interpret and apply relevant legislation/code on the project to prevent potential business exposure
Contractual management of design providers
Negotiation of contractual terms, variations and progress claims
Oversee the calling of quotations and letting of tenders for contracts to be let. Ensure effective contract administration, in conjunction with operations personnel and contract administrators
Ensure selected subcontractors and suppliers are acceptable to the project
Ensure the establishment and maintenance of a register of subcontractors and identify all key data in relation to each subcontracts
Oversee the procurement process for all subcontract and supply agreements to ensure that all packages are awarded on time and within budget
Oversee the preparation of monthly progress claims for work completed and approve disputed progress payments to subcontractors as referred by contract administrators
Manage any disputes or major claims with subcontractor or the Client
Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures
Lead the identification and quantification of Head Contract Scope changes and all subsequent negotiations with the Client

People management: Monitor staff and labour resourcing to ensure the project has the capability to achieve targets, supervise workforce, including subcontractors, and foster a high performance team within a positive employee relations environment
Conduct negotiations with subcontractors and ensure all subcontractor agreements are closely aligned to the project’s risk management principals

Intermediate to advanced proficiency in relevant software packages such as Microsoft Suite (including Excel) and exposure to a contract management system (CRM)
5 -10 years’ of relevant commercial experience in the construction and engineering industry
Bachelor degree or equivalent in Law, Commerce, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, Business or associated disciplines
Cofferdam, Spillway Demolition and Working Platform
Ideally gained with a large tier contractor, working on a project with a similar value to that of LMDIP ($420M)
Construction Management qualification or equivalent CA/CPA Post graduate qualification in Law, Commerce, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, Business or associated disciplines
Demonstrated application of Corporate Limits of Liabilities and contractual and commercial systems, processes and procedures
2-5 demonstrated years’ experience working in the Contracts Manager / Commercial Manager position
