Senior Structural Engineer

Description

You’ll manage structural projects from concept through construction, help mentor junior staff, and work on a diverse portfolio ranging from historic renovations and mixed-use towers to institutional and educational facilities. • Collaborate closely with architects, contractors, and owners from kickoff to construction
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers and CAD staff; review calculations and drawings for code and quality compliance
• Represent the firm at client meetings, construction sites, and with local permitting jurisdictions
• Oversee project scope, schedule, budgets, and documentation
• Lead high-impact, design-driven projects across Virginia
• Conduct structural assessments and provide forensic analysis or value engineering as needed
• Support office leadership in quality control and business development efforts
• Lead structural engineering design for projects including educational buildings, adaptive reuse, and mixed-use developments

Requirements

If you’re a licensed structural engineer ready to lead, problem-solve, and bring elegant designs to life — we’d love to connect.

• PE license required; SE license a plus
• 8–10+ years of experience in structural engineering, preferably in a small or mid-sized firm
• Strong communication, mentorship, and organizational skills
• Ability to travel occasionally to nearby office locations as needed
• Proficiency with Revit Structure and structural design software (RAM, RISA, ETABS, etc.)
• Proven experience in building design (commercial, residential, institutional, or adaptive reuse)
