

Ensure compliance with GDOT standards, AASHTO guidelines, and environmental regulations.
Lead the planning, design, and execution of major transportation infrastructure projects.
Review and approve engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Stay current with emerging transportation technologies and practices.
Supervise junior engineers and consultants.
Coordinate with local governments, MPOs, and federal agencies.
Manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
The Transportation Engineer V serves as a senior-level engineer responsible for leading complex transportation projects, managing multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves strategic planning, technical oversight, and coordination across departments and external stakeholders.
Utilize advanced engineering software (e.g., MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D).
Oversee roadway design, traffic engineering, corridor modeling, and safety improvements.
Conduct QA/QC reviews and implement process improvements.
Represent the department in public meetings and technical committees.
Provide technical guidance on pavement design, drainage systems, utility coordination, and erosion control.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master's preferred)
Minimum 8-10 years of transportation engineering experience
Strong knowledge of GDOT Plan Development Process (PDP)
Proficiency in project management and engineering software
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
