The Safety Director will lead Paulson-Cheek Mechanical’s company-wide safety program, ensuring a proactive and consistent safety culture across all project sites. This individual will oversee all safety operations, compliance, training, and strategic initiatives while partnering with project teams and executive leadership to promote continuous improvement and operational excellence.

  • Lead new-hire safety orientations and ongoing training for field personnel and subcontractors.
  • Develop and deliver safety education programs that foster engagement and accountability.
  • Conduct regular jobsite inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with company and client safety standards.
  • Collaborate with clients, consultants, and regulatory agencies to ensure alignment on safety goals and expectations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing safety team across multiple regions and project types.
  • Lead and document incident investigations, identify root causes, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Support the company’s reputation as a safety leader within the Atlanta construction community.
  • Represent Paulson-Cheek Mechanical in industry forums, safety associations, and community outreach efforts.
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and programs across all job sites, in line with industry best practices.
  • Continuously analyze safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OSHA standards, industry trends, and emerging safety technologies.
  • Partner closely with project management, superintendents, engineers, and subcontractors to integrate safety into all phases of project planning and execution.
  • Provide regular safety reports to executive leadership and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Serve as the primary leader on all matters related to safety performance, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and maintain key safety performance metrics, reports, and dashboards.
  • Promote a proactive, employee-driven safety culture.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills with the ability to influence all levels of the organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience conducting audits, leading investigations, and delivering impactful safety training.
  • Proven success in managing multi-project safety programs across complex construction environments.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of progressive safety experience within commercial construction, including ground-up and renovation projects.
  • CHST, CSP, or equivalent professional certification (preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification (required)
