In this role you will coordinate and deliver assigned ecological projects, managing desk‑based studies, data requests from UK record centres, and species analyses that guide field survey targeting. Responsibilities include conducting high‑level environmental constraints assessments, MAGIC searches, collating data for preliminary ecological appraisals, and supporting the preparation of biodiversity strategies, licence applications, and mitigation monitoring plans. You will also contribute to bid production, develop and implement team training plans, and oversee budgets and progress for medium‑size or complex tasks.
The successful candidate must hold at least a Master’s degree in Zoology, Ecology, Conservation Biology or a related environmental discipline, with a Ph.D. regarded as advantageous. Membership of a professional body such as CIEEM is desirable. Ten to fifteen years of relevant professional experience, including ecological report writing, EIA and biodiversity net‑gain documentation, is required. Proven knowledge of environmental legislation, species identification across common habitat types, and prior involvement in ecological and habitat surveys are essential. Experience with UK or European bat species, UK EIA and town‑planning regulations, and a strong record of adhering to bio‑security and health‑and‑safety protocols are also expected.
The position offers the opportunity to work within a diverse portfolio of projects alongside a UK‑based team, requiring effective remote communication and flexibility across time zones. The company supports personal development through mentorship from industry‑recognised technical leaders and provides training to enhance technical knowledge. Additional assets include advanced ArcGIS or bat‑analysis software skills and proficiency in a foreign language, which can further strengthen your contribution.
