Tasks

-Create substation P&C design project scopes, estimates, budgets, and schedules for substation projects -Visit sites, advise on P&C engineering issues, and modify design to solve issues during construction -Manage budgets and project schedules -Perform calculations and studies using client specified software and standards -Oversee the work of junior staff and mentor designers/drafters -Collaborate, communicate, and liaise effectively with other design disciplines, colleagues, construction contractors, consultants, materials suppliers, and clients

What You Bring

-Ability to lead a team of engineers and designers in a lead engineer capacity -Proficient in design of protection schemes for substation and transmission line equipment, including bus, line, capacitor and transformer design and protection schemes and associated settings -Advanced understanding of protection and control fundamentals as they apply to utility substation and transmission line equipment -Licensed Professional Engineer or the ability to be licenses within one year -Good written and oral communication skills -Experience in the utility industry -Ability to perform studies and create reports for coordination, voltage drop, fault current, and insulation coordination -Basic understanding of substation design to include equipment arrangements -Ability to read, interpret, design, and engineer P&C designs for utility stations through 500kV, including one lines, three lines, AC/DC schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, settings, relays, and SCADA -Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds -Work independently -Experience checking designs for accuracy, appearance, and adherence to customer standards -Proficient in principles of project management -Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations -Think both creatively and logically to resolve design and development problems -Bachelor’s degree from an EAC/ABET accredited Engineering Program OR an approved evaluation of non-ABET credentials by NCEES OR graduation from a Master’s or Doctoral Program in Engineering from an institution with EAC/ABET accredited Undergraduate Engineering Programs -5 to 7 years’ experience as a practicing engineer -Able to manage multiple tasks and provide leadership to other team members -Advanced understanding of SCADA communication design
