Overview

Support facility planning and operational improvement as an Industrial Engineer‑In‑Training.

Tasks

-Support the learning and development of teammates via informal support and/or mentoring opportunities -Develop and apply interdisciplinary coordination experience to evaluate facility and operational tradeoffs, determine practical design solutions, and mitigate potential project issues as early as possible in projects -Apply strong communication and organizational skills (technical writing, technical presentations, information gathering and collaborative style workshops, informal meetings) in the execution of project tasks -Execute work in an organized manner, adhering to standards and processes, project management framework, and project documentation policies -Marketing & Business Development- Effectively translate client requirements into a work breakdown structure (time allocation, schedule development, resource identification) to support development of proposals -Client Interaction and Communications- Act as a client contact on project work and be fully accountable to commitments made -Execute a portion of the technical work independently, with support from others as required (in more specialized skillsets, software, application areas) -Apply financial acumen to understand how our client’s business needs are connected to project requirements and how to model and evaluate capex, opex, and/or revenue implications of various options -Stay up to date with industry/market trends, emerging technologies, and skillsets applicable to our work and client needs -Coordinate effectively with an integrated project delivery team which may include architects and civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and/or process engineers. -Independently plan, lead, and/or contribute to meetings and workshops during all phases of a project to gather, clarify, and confirm information -Technical- Formulate appropriate and effective technical approaches for the industrial engineering scope of work on a project -Network internally and externally to raise awareness of the value of industrial engineering in applicable project types and scopes of work -Translate the project scope and contractual requirements to effective and efficient execution of technical work

What You Bring

-Business development and client relationship management experience is an asset -Experience in multiple project delivery methods including design/build, integrated project delivery, P3, etc. is an asset -Experience in static modeling and dynamic modeling (e.g., discrete event simulation) is an asset -LEED® experience is an asset -Understand client needs and translate into project team actions (prioritization, sequencing, execution, and delegation of tasks) -Experience in CAD/BIM is an asset -Project coordination or management experience is an asset -Experience in design of transit operations, maintenance, and storage facilities (OMSF) is an asset -Experience in data science and/or data analytics is an asset -Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (Industrial Engineering preferred. Industrial Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Integrated Engineering, or other relevant programs may be considered) -Communicate proactively and effectively with colleagues at the team, studio, and project level -Familiarity with integrated and collaborative industrial facility design processes is an asset -Experience in computer programming is an asset -Registration or credentials to register as an Engineer-In-Training or Engineer in Canada is required -Experience in planning and design of warehousing, distribution, fulfillment, and parcel sortation facilities is an asset
